This week, I want to share 2 photographers from Instagram with you. I think once you start REALLY looking at their photos, you will see why I chose them! Please take the time to study the photos and ask yourself:
- Why is it a compelling photo?
- What makes the composition work?
- Can you identify any elements of composition we have talked about here on my blog?
- Would you have done anything differently?
Answering these questions will help you become a better photographer and, I hope, inspire you to get out there and take lots of photos!
The first photographer is Bredun Edwards. Click on the photo above or to your left and go right to his IG gallery. Bredun is an award-winning foreign news television cameraman and is currently based in the United Kingdom.. You can check out more of his work on his website. The featured image above is by Bredun. I think it is an awesome use of light and capturing the moment! Don’t you think that if the capture had been of the boy just standing there it wouldn’t have been so interesting and compelling? We have been emphasizing shadows and light the past several weeks over on my FaceBook page and Bredun’s photos are exemplary images showing the use of light and shadow and creating a sense of mystery. Enjoy the gallery below!
Daniel Kordan is the second photographer I want to highlight. He is a landscape photographer and leads photography workshops.
Study his beautiful use of colors and composition with great light! You can view more of his photos and find out more about his workshops on his website. Daniel’s use of color just “wows” you especially when you first enter his website. There is a beautiful slideshow of his photos on his home page. As a creator of websites, this is a great way to showcase a photographer and really enticed me to browse further on his site.
I invite you to share your ideas in the comments below as you study these 2 photographer’s images. I would love to hear what you think and how it inspired you!
